Wet To Dry - Options

Building Drying Following Flood Damage or Water Damage

Building Drying - humidity control

To carry out building drying to a property following flood damage or water damage we need to control the humidity. The relative humidity in occupied premises is normally around 50%. After flood damage or water damage this can rise substantially as water evaporates. We control the moisture in the air to prevent it being re-absorbed by dry materials, possibly stimulating toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) growth.

Dehumidifying

Richfords Fire & Flood have various methods of dehumidifying a property that has suffered flood damage or water damage:

Desiccant dehumidifying: these produce air with very low moisture content, especially useful for concrete, brick etc.

Refrigerant dehumidifying: these are very convenient and effective for most drying situations.

New generation refrigerant dehumidifying
: these new types of high efficiency dehumidifier have an internal heat exchanger to further reduce energy costs.

Commercial Building Drying

If you need us to deal with a large industrial building drying project we may need to use high capacity industrial equipment. This equipment can extract very large amounts of water and can control the environment in huge buildings. This building drying equipment can extract up to 1000 litres of water per day from the air.

We can also provide indirect fuel oil heaters with a heat output of 65kw. These are positioned outside the property and should not be confused with portable “space heaters”, which introduce water vapour into the drying environment.

Please click here to see our National Drying Support Service (NDSS) website for more information on large scale building drying

We can release trapped moisture from floating floors

A floating floor is laid on a slab of insulating material such as polystyrene. The surface material may be a cement based screed or chipboard. The insulated spaces can become filled with water.

If you have a saturated floating floor, we can use special techniques to release trapped moisture. This avoids the disruption and cost of removal of the insulation and screed.

This type of floor is common from 1990s build onwards.
