Safety Following Flood Damage or Water Damage

Toxic mould (mold) - real risk or hype?

When does the presence of toxic mould (mold or mould (mold) in a property need specialist action to control? What are the risk factors from toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold)?

This is a difficult question to answer because the body's reaction to toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) differs greatly from one individual to another. It is without doubt that some people can be very seriously affected by exposure to an environment that contains toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold).

Toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) can cause respiratory irritation through air-borne mould (mold) spores, or from the dead mould (mold) remains, inhaled as dust. Some toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) also produce chemical toxins that can poison.

Toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) growth may be hidden behind wallpaper or plasterboard. Toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) releases spores as it dries out, or as it is disturbed by vibration or application of chemicals. Premature drying of toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) covered materials can cause a sudden heavy release of toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) spores.

Richfords can carry out controlled removal of toxic mould (mold) or mould (mold) material and can carry out odour elimination to the musty odour that sometimes remains. Please call for advice.

Testing flood damage or water damage.

We can provide our customers extra peace of mind following a sewage flood. After cleaning has been completed to a high standard, we now give a printout from our on-site cleanliness tests.

We test for the presence for ATP, which is a component of living cells. If the level is low, we can tell that the surface has been thoroughly cleaned. It has helped us refine our cleaning
techniques and is very reassuring for the property owner.

This test method is more accurate than protein swab testing.
