Neglected properties, e.g. with broken windows, can become colonised by pigeons and subsequently require decontamination. Droppings build up and can support growth of the histoplasmosis fungi which is a toxic mould (mold).
When disturbed the toxic mould (mold) spores can be released into the air and when the toxic mould (mold) is inhaled it can start an infection. Careful decontamination procedures are required to ensure safety of workers, building occupants and disposal companies.
