Field Co-ordinator Technician – M5 Depot (Cullompton) Devon

Salary:                            £21,000 + Benefits

Job Purpose:              

 

Richfords are in the business of giving people their lives back after they have suffered events such as a fire or a flood. Our emergency technicians need to respond promptly to support customers with positive actions to enable them to re-gain use of their property as soon as possible. This could be a domestic residence, business, school, office etc.  The post of Field Co-ordinator Technician is to work on projects and to work with and co-ordinate the teams on assigned projects.  The post holder can expect that, as they work closely with customers of all types and in many varying situations, they will receive positive feedback and appreciation for their professional and supportive work.

We need to be able to demonstrate to insurers through our proposals that we are a cost effective service and that we reduce overall claims costs by our prompt response, specialist skills and value-for-money defensible pricing.

 

The Field Co-ordinator Technician’s role is to carry out surveys, create accurate value-for-money project estimates, proposals and project specifications to demonstrate the cost benefits of work we have carried out and to take responsibility, along with the Project Manager for delivery of the outcomes. 

 

We provide this service 24/7, mainly across the South West, but also further afield, so out of normal office hours working and some overnights away from home can be required to enable us to meet customer needs.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1)           To work as part of the Field Coordinator Technician team, taking responsibility for assigned projects by working on projects, carrying out practical work and liaising with all parties, including meeting with the customer and other interested parties at the incident to establish the customer’s key needs.

 

2)           To support the Project Manager by carrying out surveys to enable preparation of accurate estimates and reports and arrange actions to meet customers’ specific needs.

 

3)           To carry out practical work, liaise with and co-ordinate the on-site teams to ensure the delivery of the project scope.  This can include necessary stabilization works such as emergency extraction of water, installation of drying systems, decontamination of areas contaminated with fire residues or all other restoration activities.

 

4)           To assist with continual improvement in the quality and efficiency of our service to customers by working in collaboration with suppliers, sub-contractors and support teams and maintaining good business relationships with work referrers.

 

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications:

  • Evidence required of educational or professional development above GCSE or ‘O’ level.

Professional and technical competencies:

  • Ability to problem solve and deal with quickly changing circumstances yet ensure all the detail is properly dealt with
  • Ability to manage involvement with several projects simultaneously
  • Innate ‘business sense’ and ability to balance cost and service to deliver a great outcome for the customer
  • Knowledge of how practical work is effectively carried out to a high standard
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office

System and procedural competencies:

  • Ability to follow standard procedures to ensure proper administration of the company and its projects
  • Ability to strictly follow Health and Safety procedures for own safety and the safety of others and to comply with legal obligations

Interpersonal and team competencies:

  • A good work ethic, natural optimism, enthusiasm and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to motivate and win collaboration by listening to and understanding other people’s positions and reach agreements but at the same time be appropriately assertive when required

General:

  • Non-smoker
  • Full UK car driving license holder
  • Able to maintain a level of fitness appropriate to the role
  • Willingness to be on the ‘On-call’ Rota
